I am a journalist, author and broadcaster best known nowadays, perhaps, for writing about the British royal family – something I have been doing on and off for over thirty-five years.

But that’s not all I’ve done, nor is it all that I am interested in. Over the years I have written for most national newspapers and a wide variety of magazines, I have written biography and other non-fiction books, and for nearly two decades I was a regular television presenter, working principally on consumer affairs, health and travel. For five years, I also worked part-time in the world of retail; and have been a frequent commentator on all things royal.

The royal biographies included the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cornwall. Amongst other subjects have been an actor, two British prime ministers and my newspaper-editor father. I’ve also ghostwritten autobiographies for Sir Cliff Richard, Pattie Boyd, and Shaun Ellis, the man who lived with wolves. My last book was about the Queen’s dogs.

I am currently working on what might turn out to be quite a controversial book about dog nutrition - a subject close to my heart - with Nick Thompson, a holistic vet and president of the Raw Food Veterinary Society. And I have plans for other books, which while they might get me into hot water, are not royal so there will be less chance of being sent to the Tower of London.
